Why was Qatar chosen in the first place? Qatar won hosting rights to one of FIFA’s biggest events over countries like England, Japan, and South Korea in 2010. The fact that Qatar was considered as a host in 2010 is a bit confusing though—on an average day, temperatures are over 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit).
